Porting an existing phone number
Using your existing number
If you already have a business phone number and want to keep it, you have two options:
Call forwarding
The simplest approach. Set up call forwarding from your existing carrier to your VoiceCraft provisioned number.
Provision a new VoiceCraft number for your agent.
Contact your phone carrier and set up unconditional call forwarding to the VoiceCraft number.
Calls to your existing number are forwarded to your agent.
This preserves your existing number while routing calls through VoiceCraft.
SIP trunk configuration
For more advanced setups, you can configure a Twilio SIP trunk to route calls from your existing number directly to VoiceCraft.
Go to your agent's Channels > Phone page.
Select the option to use an existing number.
Enter your SIP trunk configuration details.
Important notes
Full number porting (transferring ownership of the number to VoiceCraft) is not currently self-service. Contact support at [email protected] if you need this.
Call forwarding may add a small delay to call connection time.
Make sure your carrier's forwarding settings route all calls (not just unanswered ones) if you want your agent to handle everything.
